First of all, you've got to know that they are generally not "his tricks." Second, it depends on your standards for talent.

One thing is certain, he is a talented self-promoter. I used to think he was totally useless, because I think his contribution to magic is very lame, indeed. Recently I talked to someone who's met him, and found out that one of his favorite books is Demian by Hermann Hesse. Made me reconsider my opinion of him. If he likes Demian, or Hesse at all, he's got to have something going for him.

I'd like to know what your criteria for talent in a magician is, though.

Gavin,

Lots of people enjoy David Blaine's magic. I can't say I'm one of them. I'm a bit of a magical purist. Check out one of my other sites at http://www.squidoo.com/greatmagicians to see some gentlemen with brilliant showmanship and tricks that remain state-of-the-art decades (and in some cases a century) after they invented them.

And these guys didn't have a battery of inventors working for them. They are the inventors.

All the best,

Brian

Daniel,

What a clever Idea. I think your worksheets are terrific! I'm going to recommend them on some of my other pages as well.

Thanks so much for posting them!

I was wondering if having a set different of long division problems, that have the same quotients and remainder constitute "magic" in the sense you use...

I created these long division worksheets with that property.

The first page contains one set of problems, and the second contains a different set, but with the same results.

That way students can check their answers in pairs.
