Recently, inquiring readers six-year old (!) Julien and his Mom, asked about Triangular Numbers: Hello, My son is currently working his way through The Number Devil (by Hans Magnus Enzenberger) and is enjoying it thoroughly. He was particularly happy about the triangular numbers in Chapter 5 because I had just coincidentally given him a worksheet [...] I was just fooling around with some numbers, and realized that 13^2 (which gives you 169) is the reverse of 31^2 (which gives you 961 – which is the reverse of 169). Is there any name for a number, the reverse of which, when squared, will also yield the reverse of the original number’s square? Here’s another [...] |
